the death of anguish
not making a sound

spilled it did to the emptiness of ground
crowns surrounded jokes gowned
cloaked choked stirred down

faces in make-up
clown suites to the duped
poop and drooped over chills
mysteries still unfolding in the known

pills, blades, trains,
guns, cliffs, and bridges
hanging, traffic, and overdoses

all faster than the anguish
accidents and not
faster than torment of criminals who get away daily
faster than catching up
of life wished to be lived
the eyes just can’t see
plausible possibilities hanging from chandeliers

tell me an easier way
to make despair disappear
stand i do to understand

try to take a statement
try to make a wave
throw yourself a lifejacket
on the boat do we stay
